Two New Children’s Rides, Other Improvements Coming to Six Flags Over Texas in 2024

Six Flags Over Texas recently filed a project with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation that includes $2 million worth of upgrades for their Bugs Bunny Boomtown area. The scope of work described is for new paving and foundations for two new rides in the Bugs Bunny Boomtown section of the park. Bugs Bunny Boomtown has been no stranger to change in recent history. In October 2022, the Sylvester & Tweety’s State Fair-Is Wheel attraction ceased operations. More recently, Yosemite Sam’s Texas Tea Cups met an abrupt end when Six Flags Over Texas made a day-of social media post, announcing its permanent closure on January 7 of this year.

New 2024 Rides Six Flags Over Texas Bugs Bunny Boomtown

Bugs Bunny Boomtown was first introduced during the park’s 2014 season.

Both of these past attractions were part of a major children’s area expansion for the park’s 2001 season. 2014 saw another major upgrade to the Looney Tunes area with the introduction of Bugs Bunny Boomtown. New rides, expanded pathways and the freshening up of existing attractions was a strong focal point. Though Six Flags Over Texas has yet to make a formal announcement of the changes coming to Bugs Bunny Boomtown, fan-based social media groups speculate that Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters will make its return to the area. Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters was introduced in 2014, but was removed in 2021 for Aquaman: Power Wave. Since then, Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters has sat in an on-site storage area.

The design firm listed on the filing is Fort Worth-based Quorum Architects. Via their website, Quorum Architects has worked with Six Flags Over Texas on a number of ride, restaurant and retail projects dating back to 2013. These include Aquaman: Power Wave, Justice League: Battle for Metropolis, The Joker and Harley Quinn Spinsanity to name a few. According to the filing, work is expected to be completed by May 31, 2024.
