Park Areas

Six Flags Over Texas opened in 1961 with six major defined park areas. Newer sections, such as Boomtown and Tower, were added as the park expanded in the 1960s. Today, Six Flags Over Texas features seven themed areas.

Boomtown

The Boomtown section was added to Six Flags Over Texas in 1963. Considered a historical add-on of the USA area, Boomtown replicates a turn-of-the-century oil town in Texas. The area is home to the first ever mine train roller coaster, Runaway Mine Train, and a handful of other family-friendly attractions.

Gotham City

Gotham City, themed around the fictional comic book city, was established at Six Flags Over Texas in 1999 with the addition of Batman: The Ride. In 2016, Gotham City would expand further and completely take over the Goodtimes Square park area. Gotham City features several high-thrill attractions, including Mr. Freeze and The Riddler Revenge.

Mexico & Spain

Turning left once you’ve entered through the park’s front gate leads directly to Mexico and Spain. These two areas opened with the park in 1961 as they signify two of the six flags that have ruled Texas throughout time. Spain is home to the La Fiesta de las Tazas teacups ride, while Mexico features the long-standing El Sombrero attraction.

Tower

The Tower area was added to Six Flags Over Texas in 1969, brought on by the addition of Oil Derrick. This area of the park is full of record-breaking attractions such as Superman: Tower of Power and Shock Wave, which was the world's tallest and fastest roller coaster when constructed.
