Historical 65th Anniversary Celebration Begins at Six Flags Over Texas on February 28
Six Flags Over Texas, the world-famous original park in the Six Flags family, will reopen Saturday, February 28 for its 2026 season and begin a year-long celebration of its 65th anniversary. The milestone year marks a new chapter for the park, supported by a multimillion-dollar reinvestment that introduces new and upgraded attractions, show venues and new entertainment designed to launch a new era for the historic Texas destination.
The celebration will feature park-wide enhancements, expanded festivals and refreshed favorite food, shows and rides along with the most ambitious new developments in the history of the park, including Tormenta Rampaging Run, a world record-breaking coaster that serves as a signature addition for the 65th anniversary. Tormenta Rampaging Run will become the tallest, fastest and longest giga dive coaster in the world and will break six world records when it opens later this year, reshaping the skyline and reinforcing the park’s legacy as a leader in thrill innovation.
“As we celebrate 65 years of thrilling fun at Six Flags Over Texas, we are honored to share a season that reflects both our history and our future,” said Mark Boyer, park manager for Six Flags Over Texas.
“This year represents a major investment in the guest experience, with improvements and entertainment that will showcase the park in new ways for our neighbors and guests from around the world.”
With new attractions, expanded entertainment and major enhancements throughout the property, 2026 is set to be the most robust season in the park’s 65-year history.

Debuting later this year, Tormenta Rampaging Run will be the tallest, fastest and longest giga dive coaster in the world. The more than 300-foot coaster will break six world records and redefine the skyline with a one-of-a-kind experience that reinforces the park’s heritage as a leader in innovation and big thrills. The historic new attraction will tower over a brand-new Spanish village called Rancho de la Tormenta and new restaurant Cocina Abuela, all fittingly located in the park’s Spain area.
Ride and Attraction Enhancements
Several classic attractions will feature refreshed theming, improved show elements and upgraded performance mechanics, including:
El Aserradero (log flume)
These updates honor the history of the park’s most beloved rides while elevating reliability, theming and the overall guest experience.
Major enhancements come to Mr. Freeze’s queue line for 2026.
Experience Six Flags Over Texas History

Guests can now be a part of the 65th anniversary and history of the park with name-engraved pavers that will be placed near the Silver Star Carousel in Star Mall. The pavers are available for purchase online and pricing starts at $125. An installation ceremony will take place later this year.
