Fright Fest Setup Begins, New Coaster Construction, Rough Times for Corporate | August Updates
Six Flags Over Texas is in the home stretch of summer operations. Southern Palace Theatre enhancements continue and its exterior is looking great. Fright Fest preparations have also begun with scare zone and themed elements popping up in multiple sections of the park. Dive coaster construction moves on with more footers being poured and new track pieces on site. Plus, teasers for a new Spain restaurant have appeared. We also discuss current corporate and revenue issues, along with the 2026 pass structure that recently debuted.
Dive Coaster, El Aserradero & New Dining
Six Flags Over Texas continues their big transformation for 2026. The to-be-named dive coaster construction moves forward with more footers popping up. Footer installations have extended closer to the park’s front gate, along with the area directly behind Conquistador. El Aserradero (Flume 2) also looks to be receiving a refresh, likely due to its proximity to the new roller coaster. Visible from the park is a repainted final drop. Along Spain’s construction walls are signs teasing a new dining experience for 2026.
Southern Palace Theatre Renovation
The first stages of renovation at Southern Palace Theatre have moved along substantially since our last visit. The outside is almost completely repainted. Gold accents and dark borders highlight the theatre, while earthy tones have been painted onto doorways and trim. Additional photos can be found on our Construction Updates page.
Fright Fest Season Begins
Though it is only the beginning of August, setup for this year’s Fright Fest event is under way. New set pieces have been built near Pirates of Speelunker Cave, likely pointing to a new scare zone. In Boomtown, spooky jack-o-lantern oil barrels have returned near Gunslinger. Six Flags Over Texas has also been working behind the scenes as changes can be seen to the haunted houses in Texas Arena from atop the Oil Derrick.
