Six Flags Guidelines & Safety Procedures for Reopening

Six Flags has released a detailed set of guidelines and safety procedures as they begin to prepare their parks for reopening. On March 13, Six Flags announced that all of their parks would temporarily close as the world dealt with the spreading COVID-19 pandemic. Please note that Six Flags Over Texas has not released an official reopening date as of May 26, 2020.

Throughout the park, guests will be greeted with the “Do the Six” safety guidelines implemented by Six Flags.

1) Wear Your Mask

2) Wash Your Hands

3) Cover Your Cough

4) Keep Your Space

5) Sanitize Often

6) Have Fun!

Advance Reservations

Visiting a Six Flags park requires making a reservation for specific dates in advance. Guests can visit sixflags.com/reserve to make their reservations. Online, guests are required to watch a brief video explaining sanitization procedures and social distancing policies. Afterwards, guests are able to pick the date and time they’d like to visit. Timed entry helps maintain social distancing guidelines. For security purposes, only one online reservation can be made at a time. You can contact the park’s guest relations team to make multiple reservations. For full reservation system details, please click here.

Temperature Screenings

All guests wishing to visit a Six Flags park are required to have their temperature screened upon entry. One potential side effect of COVID-19 is a fever. Implementing these procedures helps further eliminate potential risks of spreading the disease. Six Flags uses a thermal imaging system to check guest temperatures, which helps encourage the implementation of social distancing guidelines. Those with temperatures over 100.40° F are directed to a medical technician to determine if it is safe for that guest to enter the park. To help provide a safer environment for all individuals inside the park, team members are also required to go through the temperature screening process each day.

Masks are Required

All guests and team members at Six Flags parks are required to wear masks. According to the CDC, COVID-19 spreads easily through air droplets. While wearing a cloth mask will not prevent you from catching the virus, it does greatly reduce the spread of your air droplets to others. Children under two years of age and those with breathing difficulties are not required to wear masks during their park visits (please contact the park directly for more details). If a guest does not have their own mask, Six Flags has them available for purchase at the front gate prior to park entry. Guests are, of course, allowed to remove their masks when eating.

New Security Procedures

Six Flags has invested in a new, high-tech security screening system called the Evolv Cortex AI. The new security system allows for a contactless screening process to further the attempt of guest and team member safety. The screening system can distinguish differences between items that are personal belongings and those that may pose a potential threat. The new security screening system also speeds up guest entry into the park.

Social Distancing & Virtual Queueing

To maintain the required guidelines set by the CDC and local and state officials, social distancing markers and signage are placed in the park’s entrance, queue lines, dining locations, restrooms and on the rides themselves. Guests are permitted to remain with their group or family members, but should respect others by maintaining a safe distance. A new virtual queueing system will be released by Six Flags shortly. The virtual queueing system is intended to limit the amount of physical waiting in a line, therefore helping enforce social distancing guidelines. More details will be released in the future.

Mobile Food Ordering

Six Flags’ new mobile food ordering system has been expanded to additional dining locations. Guests are encouraged to purchase their food via the Six Flags app. The mobile app allows guests to select and purchase food items in a contactless manner. Have a dining pass or membership discount? The mobile app automatically applies meal credits and discounts to a food order. Guests who wish to not use the mobile food ordering feature have access to reverse ATMs inside the park. A list of food locations that support mobile ordering can be found here.

Clean Teams

Six Flags has implemented “clean teams” throughout the park to ensure and upkeep increased sanitization standards.

The sole purpose of these team members is to sanitize high-traffic areas, touch points, tables, handrails, restrooms, queue lines, ride seats and restraints and more.

Hand Wash Stations

Six Flags has placed hand wash stations at the entrances and exits of various attractions. Along with hand wash stations, hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the park.

Guests are encouraged to wash and sanitize their hands as frequently they’d like.
