The Tony Hawk Era
Between 2007 and 2008, Six Flags installed four spinning roller coasters at Six Flags Over Texas, Fiesta Texas, Discovery Kingdom and Six Flags St. Louis. All of these attractions, inspired by the pro skater Tony Hawk, were painted red and black and featured cars themed to skateboards. The queue lines were also themed with informational boards that showcased the history of skateboarding. In 2010, Six Flags began canceling licensing agreements with various brands. One of these brands was Tony Hawk. In 2011, Tony Hawk’s Big Spin at Six Flags Over Texas was renamed Big Spin. In 2012, Big Spin was renamed Pandemonium.
Wildcatter (1982 to 2007)
Past Attractions
Two notable past attractions, the Happy Motoring Freeway and Wildcatter, stood in the location now occupied by Pandemonium. Happy Motoring Freeway, an attraction manufactured by Arrow Dynamics, stood in this area from 1961 to 1987. Some remnants of the old Happy Motoring track can still be found near the back side of the ride in Boomtown. Wildcatter, the first-ever Intamin Freefall attraction, stood in the area from 1982 through 2007. It went out with a bang after being imploded in October 2007.
