Thrills By Day, Fright By Night

During the day, Six Flags Over Texas offers an atmosphere that is suitable for guests of all age. There are many activities available, such as karaoke and trick-or-treating, that are geared towards children. However, once evening sets on the park, the atmosphere turns into a more frightening experience. Once night falls the park experience is recommended for guests older than 12 years. Visit the "Entertainment" tab above to see daytime entertainment geared towards younger guests.

Haunted Houses

The park offers a handful of haunted houses at an extra charge. Guests can purchase single-house tickets or a wristband for entry to all houses. Other upgraded packages are available that will cut your wait time in half. If you are planning on enjoying the haunted houses we recommend looking at one of these upgraded packages once you arrive to the park. Pricing for haunted houses can be found in the "Haunted Houses" tab above.

Fright Fest Entertainment

The park provides a great line-up of live entertainment to enjoy throughout the day. Shows such as Welcome to Arania's Nightmare are a huge hit and will play multiple times a day. We recommend arriving at theatres earlier than usual as Fright Fest shows are quite popular. More information regarding live shows can be found going to the "Entertainment" tab above.

Trying to Avoid Crowds

We do not have a 100% guaranteed solution for avoiding crowds. This is one of the busiest times of the year to visit a Six Flags park. However, there are a few methods we have tried in the past that have helped:

  • Go earlier in the season. Fright Fest starts in September. You will likely not run into the heavy crowds that are present the closer it gets to Halloween.

  • Go on an off-day. Have you thought about going to Fright Fest during the week on a Thursday? This has sometimes been a great way to avoid the weekend crowd.

  • Do not go on coupon dates. If there is a deal for bringing friends free or discounted tickets we highly recommend that you do not go to the park if you are bothered by large crowds.

  • Try going on a Sunday. This isn't always the case, but sometimes Sunday is a less crowded day than Saturday. We still think the closer it gets to Halloween the busier Sundays will inevitably get.

Nightly Ride Closures

Since the park turns into a more mature-themed nature at night, there are a handful of ride closures. Happening at 6pm each evening, attractions such as Bugs Bunny Boomtown, other children rides, and water rides close for the day. Did you know? We have a page listing all rides and attractions. Each dedicated ride page has the ability to show special information, such as scheduled ride closures, so be sure to check them out for special Fright Fest-related information.

When does Fright Fest operate?

Fright Fest will take place on select dates from September 22nd through October 31st. Click on the "Essentials" tab above to see only the dates and times that the park is open for Fright Fest.

Unavoidable Scare Zones

As seasons progress, Six Flags Over Texas has added many more scare zones. During the day they remain untouched like most of the park. However, once night falls, all scare zones are filled with scary characters with the sole intent to frighten the guests around them. Please note that many park attractions cannot be accessed without traveling through various scare zones within the park.
